De advocaat van Pharrell Williams heeft een brief gestuurd naar Donald Trump. Daarin eist hij dat Williams’ ‘Happy’ niet meer wordt gedraaid tijdens politieke bijeenkomsten.
Aanleiding is een bijeenkomst in Indiana ter ondersteuning van de Republikein Mike Bost afgelopen zaterdag, waar het nummer luttele uren na de aanslag op de joodse synagoge in Pittsburg werd gedraaid.
In de brief staat onder meer: ‘On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played his song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event in Indiana.’ en: ‘There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose.’
