De Engelse zender Sky heeft eens serie aangekondigd over Phil Spector.
Daarin ligt de nadruk op de moord die Spector in zijn huis pleegde op Lana Clarkson, al komt uiteindelijk zijn carrière als producer volgens het persbericht ook nog wel aan bod.
Nu zijn wij niet dol Spector’s wall of sound, al was het maar doordat hij daarmee ook ‘Get Back’ van de Beatles om zeep hielp.
Hij was in de jaren zestig toch zeker een grootheid, al was hij ook destijds al gek: zo hield hij zijn vrouw Ronnie Bennett. De ex-zangeres van de Ronettes, praktisch gevangen in zijn huis en dreigde hij zo ongeveer voortdurend haar te doden als ze hem zou verlaten: hij liet en gouden doodskist met een glazen deksel in de kelder plaatsen en kondigde hij aan haar lijk daarin te zullen leggen, zodat hij haar in de gaten kon houden.
Sky’s persbericht draait dan ook rond die kant van zijn persoonlijkheid:
