Bonnie Raitt, Steve Earle, Indigo Girls en Pete Seeger horen tot de artiesten die een song beschikbaar hebben gesteld voor By this fracking album, een dubbelaar tegen het winnen van gas door de nieuwe, omstreden techniek van fracking.
Daarop komen in totaal 24 songs te staan: nieuwe, eerder uitgekomen songs en live-versies, die alle milieubewustzijn als thema zouden hebben.
Ook het John Butler Trio, Michael Franti, Meshell Ndegeocello, Natalie Merchant plus de Felice Brothers stelden een nummer beschikbaar.
Opvallend is overigens het grote aantal totaal onbekende artiesten. Nu zegt dat op zich niets over kwaliteit, want dat bewijzen wij wekelijks, maar in combinatie met het grote aantal activistische titels vrezen wij toch het ergste…
Het album komt uit op 16 juni en geld overmaken via Pledge Music kan ook.
In ruil daarvoor krijg je toegang tot filmpjes en nummers op het internet of en een ontmoeting met Bonnie Raitt tijdens een van haar concerten, terwijl de opbrengsten bestemd zijn voor organisaties als Food and Water watch en Marcellus Protest:
